8 Amazing AirPods Pro Settings You Didn’t Know You Had
The Apple AirPods are all the rage right now and not without good reason. Apple’s wireless earbuds are intuitive to use, easy to charge, sound great, and stay firmly in your ears no matter what you’re doing. While they’re simple enough to use out of the box, they also have many advanced settings you can change to tweak how they work. Here are 8 of our favorite AirPods Pro settings that help them work even better with your iPhone or iPad.
1) Switch up Siri’s Personality
Your AirPods Pro can do much more than they seem. With a simple change to Siri’s personality, you’ll be able to make your AirPods Pro even more enjoyable. Just follow these easy steps: open the Settings app on your iPhone, tap Siri and set the gender to female, then open the Preferences for Voice under Personality. Choose Wise or Funny and hit Save. Now when you ask Siri anything, she’ll give you a witty response that will make you smile.
2) Set Up Another Person to Take Calls for You
There are a lot of amazing AirPods Pro settings that people don’t know about. One really clever one is set up someone to take your calls for you. Once you’re on a call, press the phone icon in the top left corner, then use the set up button below it to assign call forwarding. Once that’s done, your AirPods Pro will be connected and will take over when they ring, which will allow you to multitask!
3) Use Special Commands with Siri
One of the great things about AirPods Pro is that you can control so much with just your voice. Whether you’re using Siri to set up a reminder, start playing music, or even ask for directions, the possibilities are endless. Here are some great commands you should use for specific tasks:
- Play Taylor Swift for when your favorite artist comes on Spotify
- Remind me to call mom at noon
- Navigate to Charlie’s Pizza if you’re running late for dinner with friends and need help finding a restaurant.
4) Change Siri’s Voice
There are a number of AirPods Pro settings you can use to customize your listening experience, and it’s easy! Here are some of our favorites
5) Switch Between Devices Easily
The AirPods Pro supports Handoff, so switching devices is seamless and efficient. Once the AirPods Pro are connected to your device, use iOS Settings > Bluetooth to disconnect the AirPods Pro from the original device and then go back in. Scroll to the bottom of the list of devices and find AirPods Pro under Show More Devices. Hit More Options (in iOS 12) or edit your password if prompted to do so, then hit Disconnect on both devices.
6) Get Better Audio with Earbuds in Both Ears
One of the best features of AirPods Pro is their ability to help you get better audio by using earbuds in both ears. These special AirPods Pro settings will give you maximum bass and a crisp, clear sound.
7) Hear What Others Are Saying Around You
You might not be using these amazing AirPods Pro settings because you don’t know about them! There are some seriously useful settings buried deep in the AirPods Pro that could dramatically change how you use your earbuds. Here are eight things everyone should know:
- Use Siri to control the volume and pause songs or playlists with a tap on your AirPods Pro. I know this sounds silly, but it’s actually pretty handy when your AirPods Pro are buried under five blankets at bedtime and you can’t feel around for them to pause the music or increase the volume one notch.
8) Listen to Just One Earbud at a Time
If you’re one of the lucky people who were able to purchase AirPods Pro, congratulations! There are some pro settings that you might not know about, like being able to use one AirPod at a time. I’ll tell you more about this below.
This would be a very useful feature for those who listen to podcasts and want to take notes on their laptop while listening. Or if you have a dominant ear and want to give the other side a break.
