The Best Nintendo Switch Games You Should Be Playing, According to IGN
The Nintendo Switch has only been out since March 3, but there are already hundreds of games to choose from, with more coming every week. It can be hard to decide which games are worth your time and money. Luckily, IGN’s Nintendo crew is here to help with its list of the best Nintendo Switch games so far.
Bayonetta 2
Some of the games that IGN had listed as the best in their opinion were Metroid: Samus Returns, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, and Bayonetta 2. All three are action-adventure games with deep worlds for you to explore and conquer. They also have great stories with compelling characters. Another game that was on the list is Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove, which is a throwback side-scrolling platformer with 8-bit graphics. Other titles include Axiom Verge and Thumper
Dead Cells
This mix of roguelike and Metroidvania-style gameplay has you navigating the randomly generated levels with complete freedom. Dead Cells also employs a number of unique features such as skill trees and mutations that give you more strategic options to choose from for your approach. However, the ultimate goal remains the same in every playthrough: kill or be killed. And if one run isn’t enough, Dead Cells is completely roguelike so you can fight against all odds again!
Overcooked 2
If you have ever dreamed of cooking with your friends and family and being on a reality cooking show such as Hell’s Kitchen or MasterChef, then Overcooked 2 is the game for you. You can either play with up to four people or go solo in this fast-paced cooperative kitchen simulator. The first thing that we love about this game is that it is just so darn cute; the graphics are designed for anyone aged four to ninety-four who loves bright colors and round characters who represent different animals.
Stardew Valley
Now available on Nintendo Switch and Playstation 4 as well as Xbox One and PC, Stardew Valley is a farming simulator meets fantasy RPG. Following your grandfather’s passing, you inherit your grandfather’s old farm which is in a dismal state, and go about the task of restoring it. Planting crops, tending livestock, and mining for gold can keep you occupied while restoring your farmstead into an idyllic farming spot with villager friends.
Snipperclips Plus
Snipperclips is a game about cooperation and friendship in which you cut each other into the right shapes to solve puzzles. To play, you’ll need one of the two Nintendo Switch controllers (sold separately). Slice your friend by drawing a line across them and watch as they magically come together again. It’s easy enough for anyone to pick up, but challenging enough that it will keep you entertained for hours on end. It also has support for single-player mode so you can play all by yourself!
Golf Story
After a long day of work, you sit down at your computer. Your muscles are sore and tired from the exertion of the day but your mind is racing. All you want to do is escape into a game with lively characters and fun challenges. The Nintendo Switch offers a number of games for all kinds of players, with more being released each month. Here are some of the best for beginners and experts alike.
Tennis World Tour
There are plenty of reasons to love the Nintendo Switch. The company’s latest console has a beautiful and powerful design, it’s easy to play on the go or with friends in different locations. But while the system has plenty of amazing games available now or coming soon (like Mario Tennis Aces), there are still some missing gems that should be among your favorites on the console. Here are five of them
Octopath Traveler
You might also be interested in Octopath Traveler. This RPG offers an engaging and uniquely different take on the traditional role-playing game. Though it doesn’t rely on telling a linear story or one true path; instead you’ll use your party of eight heroes to navigate the world’s many quests and events according to the decisions you make for each character. Play through each character’s story in turn as you learn more about their motivations, personality and desires through multiple actions throughout your journey.
